Sydney
The whole world's in love with Sydney. It's stylish, it's sophisticated, it's home to some of the friendliest people on the planet. And yes, a few koalas, if you know where to look. What's not to love? This gateway to the Outback has it all: endless outdoor adventure around the harbor or in spots like the Blue Mountains. Golden sandy beaches named Bondi, Bilgola and Coogee (which are not only beautiful, but also fun to say). A bustling art and entertainment scene. Countless museums, galleries and world-class restaurants where the dishes go way beyond the local Vegemite.
Bay of Islands, New Zealand
Named by the intrepid Captain Cook in 1769, the Bay of Islands region is comprised of some 150 isles and a handful of coastal towns that beckon with outdoor adventures like game fishing, yachting, kayaking and more.
Auckland, New Zealand
With a population of 1.3 million people, including immigrants from all over the world and a heavy concentration of Polynesian people, Auckland is far and away New Zealand's largest and most cosmopolitan city. Called the "City of the Sails" because of its beautiful location between two harbours and great weather, Auckland is a big fish on a small island and a swank city in a rural country.
Tauranga, New Zealand
On the Bay of Plenty, sunny Tauranga has a beautiful harbor, historic sights, a revitalized waterfront and easy access to beautiful beaches, vibrant Maori culture, and outdoor adventures in the sea, lakes, and volcanic landscapes.
Napier, New Zealand
Napier's top draw for tourists is its architecture, built in a distinctive Art Deco style. The port is also a gateway to exploring the Maori heritage, seascapes and wildlife of Hawke's Bay and the many vineyards and wineries in the region.
Wellington, New Zealand
Wellington embraces its reputation as a cool “little” capital. Downtown is compact but there’s no shortage of big-city culture. The charm extends to the surrounding green hillsides while countryside and rugged coast are within easy reach.
Dunedin, New Zealand
Dunedin proudly celebrates its Scottish heritage but gold-rush fortunes are behind its grand Victorian and Edwardian architecture. From here you can also explore the Otago Peninsula, home to penguin colonies and scenic coastline.
Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound, Milford Sound
Part of New Zealand's Fiorland National Park, Dusky Sound was long the site of Maori camps but few permanent settlements. Captain Cook spent five weeks exploring the dramatic coastline that edges the mountainous wilderness.
You can only experience the grand scenery and tranquility of this magnificent fjord by boat. Doubtful Sound sustains an amazing array of wildlife. In the rainy season, its steep hills are covered with hundreds of waterfalls.
The Maori believed a divine mason carved Milford Sound. The fjord is a geological wonder of the ice age, where waterfalls cascade over sheer cliffs into the dark waters below and mountains dominated by Mitre Peak reach toward the sky.
Poker Room
Card Player Cruises proudly features a professional, fully staffed, non-smoking poker room. The poker room is usually open for play immediately after the first-seating dinner on your departure day. The poker room remains open throughout most of the cruise except when the ship is in port. Free beginner lessons for novices are offered, followed by a low limit hold’em game for beginners only.
The Card Player Cruises staff will be happy to spread any game and limit that enough players want to play. A general guideline regarding the games and limits on most cruises is as follows:
Limit hold’em: $2/$4 – $4-$8 and higher upon requestNo–limit hold’em: $1/3, $2/5, and higher upon request
Omaha/8: $4/8 and often higher ($10/20 on up).
