Card Player Cruises Mediterranean Cruise

Barcelona, Spain, one of Europe's most beautiful cities, was the beginning of the adventure and our cruisers enjoyed a couple of nights stay in very fine hotels in this lovely city. Card Player Cruises had visited Barcelona one time before, but merely as a partial day stop on a busy itinerary through Europe. As part of the land package, not only were travelers given the time needed to catch up on their sleep, but time to experience the grandeurs of the city and learn about the wondrous architecture and how the famous Antoni Gaudi built many of its historic hot spots. Home of the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona is where Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, and Salvador Dali spent much of their lives. Many of the following photos are highlighting Gaudi's spectacular Sagrada Familia Church. It offers the greatest display of 19th century architecture in the world. Unfortunately, Gaudi died in a freak accident before he finished building it, and it sat unfinished for years. Recently, the 30-year plan to complete it began, and the scaffolding you see will be around for the next generation.
